Heavy Hitters July: Andrea Gibson
“Rightness comforts only the tiniest parts of us.” - Andrea Gibson
An American touring poet and social activist, Andrea Gibson began performing at open mikes in 1999 and debuted with the poetry album Bullets and Windchimes in 2003. Recognized for a passionate delivery and material that addresses social ills and gender constructs, among many other subjects, Gibson quickly built a reputation on the spoken word scene with articulate live recitations and recordings.
Andrea Gibson's latest collection is a masterful showcase. With artful and nuanced looks at gender, romance, loss, and family. Each emotion here is deft and delicate, resting inside of imagery heavy enough to sink the heart, while giving the body wings to soar.
